Hi, I'm Georgia!

I'm the owner, creator and resident experimenter here at The Paint Yard.

I've always loved making things. Growing up on a farm near Holbrook, I spent my childhood building cubbies, creating little worlds, collecting treasures and finding excuses to get messy. Looking back, I don't think I've ever really stopped.

I'm a self-taught artist, and while completing an 8-week acrylic painting course at MAMA in 2020 gave me the confidence to start sharing art with others, what I discovered was that I loved teaching even more than painting.

What began as a small backyard studio has now grown into a creative studio where people of all ages can slow down, experiment, learn something new and connect with others.

The biggest thing I want people to know before they walk through the door is that you don't have to be "good at art" to belong here.

In fact, that's kind of the point.

This studio isn't about creating perfect artwork to hang on your wall. It's about making time to play, trying materials you've never used before, getting your hands dirty, making mistakes, laughing at them, and surprising yourself with what you create.

Whether it's a three-year-old proudly gluing cardboard together, a teenager discovering charcoal for the first time, or an adult who's convinced they "don't have a creative bone in their body", my favourite part is watching people relax into the process and realise creativity isn't a talent - it's something everyone deserves to enjoy.

These days the studio is home to children's art classes, school holiday workshops, homeschool programs, adult creative sessions, art ‘cafe’, paint nights, live music events, birthday parties and community workshops. Every activity is designed around the same philosophy: ‘Create for the Joy of it!’

Outside the studio I'm finishing my Master's of Primary Teaching (after collecting a Biomedical Science degree and a Diploma of Travel & Tourism along the way!). I still love learning, experimenting and trying new creative ideas - which is why you'll often find me figuring things out alongside everyone else rather than having the answers!

My hope is that The Paint Yard becomes more than just somewhere to make art.

I hope it becomes somewhere you feel comfortable enough to try something new, connect with others, and leave feeling just a little lighter than when you arrived.

I can't wait to welcome you into the studio!
